New Book Release! 364 Days Until Halloween

I’m excited to announce my new children’s book, 364 Days Until Halloween is now released! When I was asked by a publisher to write a book about Halloween, my mind was immediately drawn to write a book for kids who are afraid of it. As a child/adolescent psychotherapist, I have worked with many kids who were in Halloween for the candy, but could have done without the rest. I was one of those kids, too. I had a highly imaginative mind - I didn’t need costumes and eerie noises to add to the mix.

In the story, Kai goes on a journey through the changing seasons as he learns to embrace the magic of Halloween. In December, he asks Santa to remove Halloween and in February he tries to cover the windows with hearts so he can’t see ghosts and goblins. The story is filled with vivid rhymes and whimsical illustrations as Kai celebrates friendship in unlikely places and develops the courage to face his fears.

Paramount to my work with kids is helping them develop resilience to do hard things. Without resilience, kids avoid difficult tasks and don’t get to fully live. Opportunities are missed and confidence fails to grow. In short, there are many hard things in life. It’s best to face them and find the good. In the story, Kai finds comfort and shares his experience with others. This story not only helps children face fears but they learn things are not just not black and white. Halloween, as most things in life, is not good or bad, but both.

Along with the book comes a Resource Bundle to help kids further process the information. It serves as a great classroom activity, small group exercise or to use with your child at home. If you order the book on my website before October 10th, you will receive a free resource bundle!

Happy Halloween to all of you and I hope your fall is filled with beautiful change.

Sincerely,

Allison
